Erdem Yalçin (born in 1987)’s alienated figures explore the corrosive selfish desire trapped inside human beings. His figures are decontextualized; they exist in an ambiguous space where the difference between desire and suffering is dissolved. The strong fury of this alienation rejects the concept of the communities, yet Yalçin’s figures strangely reconcile with the audience.
The leading subjects in his work are memories and childhood. He works across different mediums moving between collages, digital press and mixed media. He has been exhibiting regularly for the past eight years. Recent solo exhibitions include Kirli Çıkı Art Gallery (2016 and 2015, Turkey), Antidepresanart Art Gallery (2016, Turkey), La Patisseria Lune (2014, Turkey) and Iş Bank Art Gallery (2012, Turkey).
